Tyler Speights
Director of Live Broadcast and Production
Tyler Speights is a Texas native from Gainesville, Texas, and has been around hockey for more than 18 years as a goalie. Growing up in Texas, sports have always been a big part of his life, but hockey became the game he connected with the most. Spending so many years in net has given Tyler a unique perspective on the game, from the pressure and preparation that comes with the position to the relationships, competition, and experiences that happen both on the ice and inside the locker room. Growing up, Tyler also gained experience around film production, which helped develop his interest in cameras, storytelling, production, and everything that happens behind the scenes to bring a finished project together. Over time, his experience in production and his love for hockey naturally grew into an interest in sports broadcasting and media. Tyler enjoys the atmosphere of live sports, being behind the scenes, capturing moments people remember, and helping fans feel more connected to the players and organization. Having experienced hockey from a player’s perspective for most of his life, he understands that some of the best stories are not just what happens during a game, but the personalities, preparation, friendships, and moments surrounding it. Through the Texas Scorpions Media Team, Tyler hopes to combine his hockey background and production experience to help tell those stories and show people another side of the game.

TEAM PHOTOGRAPHERS
The crew capturing every Scorpions moment from the glass

Amaya Rojas
Director of Photography
Amaya's love for hockey photography began more than 20 years ago, when her son Daniel first started playing ice hockey. What began as a mom taking pictures of her son quickly grew into a passion for capturing the speed, emotion, and excitement of the game. While her family owned and operated USA on Ice, an ice rink in Orlando, Florida, Amaya invested in her first professional Nikon camera and created Memories For U, an action photography business dedicated to the players at the rink. She photographed youth hockey players and later adult beer-league players, capturing moments on the ice that players and their families could keep forever. Young players would even stop by the family’s hockey pro shop to ask Amaya if she could photograph them during their next game. For Amaya, the most rewarding part of photography has always been seeing the excitement on a player’s face—or the pride on a parent’s face—when they see that special action shot. Hockey has been part of Amaya’s family story since she first met her husband. She knew very little about the sport until she watched him play, and everything changed from there. Years later, he put their son Daniel on skates at just three years old, and Amaya became a hockey mom, a goalie mom, and the family photographer. Today, that story has come full circle. Amaya is once again behind the camera, now as Team Photographer for the Texas Scorpions Semi-Pro Ice Hockey Team, another family-owned hockey venture. Her favorite place to be is still behind the lens, capturing the action, emotion, personalities, and unforgettable moments that tell the story of the game. For Amaya, hockey photography isn’t simply about taking a picture—it’s about capturing a moment that a player and their family can be proud of for years to come. 🏒📸🦂
